1. Open your image in Adobe Photoshop. On the right hand lower corner is your Layer Pallet, right click on the picture in the pallet. You want to Duplicate Layer. Dump the original layer in the trash can in the right bottem corner of this pallet.

2. Next open the Extract Tool - Ctrl+Alt+X I choose to make the Brush size 10, the Highligher as Red, and the Fill as Blue. I also checked the textured image and made the smoothness at 34 because my image I'm working with is not smooth.

3. Next choose the Highlighter tool to draw a line around the outside edge of the subject you want to remove from the background. I choose to zoom my image in so that I could see the line I was drawing better. Don't worry about not getting everything or going over the edges. You can always fix that later with any of these tools on this pallet.
4. Once you have finished outlining your subject, choose the paint bucket icon and click within the subject (the dog).
5. The dog turned blue. I click preview to see if it looks like what I want. It's great so I click on OK.

6. I'm going to open up one of my Old Masters Images from Old Masters Volume 3.
7. Now all I do is move my Old Masters Image over to the Dog image with the Move Tool (looks like a plus). You will have to move the Layer 1 above the Layer with the backdrop on it in the pallet on the side of the window. Just drag the lower window above the other. At this point you can be finished, but I want to resize my backgroud for this subject so I just go to the top menu - Edit - Transform - Scale. I then grab one of the corners of the backdrop layer and resize it smaller.
8. I also wanted to create a little effect that this subject is more life-like and not sitting on top of this backgound as if it was actually taken in front of a painted muslin. So I choose the Magic Wand in the left pallet and clicked outside the main subject.
Then I go to Select in the main menu - Feather. Choose somewhere between 3 and 10. Click OK. Then Delete. Control D will deselect the Magic wand tool when you're finished.
9. Now you can save your file as wheter type of file you need and you're finished.
10. Finished Photo:

11. I can drag and drop any background behind my subject from any of our digital backdrop CD's.
